How your card works
Every digital card — on a link, a QR code, or a physical NFC card or badge — points at the same live page. Here's what happens when someone taps or scans it.
The short version
Each card has its own address. Opening it (by tap, scan, or link) always shows that person's current card, pulled fresh from the company directory. If something about your card is wrong — name, title, photo — that's a directory data issue, not a problem with the tap itself; see What's on your card.
When a card says "This card is unavailable"
This message means the card isn't being shown right now. There are only a few reasons:
| Reason | Who can fix it |
|---|---|
| The link or device was switched off | You (in the portal's Devices section, for a lost device) or your admin |
| The person or mailbox is flagged "stale" | Your client admin — see Why a card shows "unavailable" |
| The company's account is suspended | Your client admin / CardLink support |
A link that doesn't match any card at all shows a plain "not found" instead.
Lost a physical NFC card or badge? You can switch it off yourself from the portal's Devices section — see the employee portal tour.
