About templates
A few things about how templates behave are worth knowing, whether you're picking one for yourself or curating a list for your company.
Who makes templates
Templates are designed and maintained by CAD staff. Client admins and MSP admins choose which templates are offered (see Managing templates), and employees choose among what's offered (see Choosing your template) — but nobody outside CAD authors or edits a template itself.
How a template handles your info
- Missing fields just disappear. If you don't have a job title or mobile number set, that line doesn't show "Job Title" as a placeholder — it's simply left out, and the layout closes up around it.
- Text color follows your brand color automatically. You don't pick text color directly; on a lighter brand/background color the template uses dark text, on a darker one it uses white, so it stays readable either way.
- Fonts are fixed per template. Each template uses a small set of fonts chosen by its CAD designer — there's no per-person or per-company font choice today.
- Long text shrinks, then truncates. A long name or title shrinks to fit first; if it's still too long, it's cut off with an ellipsis rather than overflowing the card.
What a specific template looks like (exact spacing, logo size, layout) can change as CAD continues refining templates — this page describes how templates behave in general, not the current look of any one template.
